The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Technology Support Specialist.

ROLE of the POSITION
The Technology Support Specialist has a variety of roles in IT services and projects.  As part of the Client Services Team, the Specialist provides project leadership, knowledge management, and communications; The Specialist will assist the Client Services Manager with planning, coordination, design, testing and delivery of OIT support services and tools, as well as preparing the help desk and campus for new service delivery.  The Specialist engages with different working groups to assess, plan, and implement new or changed services.  The Specialist is also a member of a second/third level support team responsible for providing resolutions to complex problems and inquiries that require expertise, time, and research.  These resolutions involve both hardware and software issues that arise from assisting users in using technology or providing technical resolutions.

Education:  Bachelor Degree
Required Skills:  
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree from an  accredited college or university
5 years of re lated professional experience
Knowledge and/or certification of ITIL, specifically in Service Catalog management
Ability to write and edit documentation clearly and attractively, including documentation, knowledge base articles, training materials, reference guides, and customer communications
Experience with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS 2007) design and site customization
Experience managing knowledge bases
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Experience working in a help desk environment
Teaching skills and experience
Working knowledge of a variety of desktop software, applications and hardware on multiple platforms
Ability to:
    •    manage multiple tasks, timelines and projects successfully
    •    u se analytical problem solving skills
    •    learn new technologies quickly and autonomously
    •    test, document, and provide support for new applications and services
    •    conduct research and summarize information
    •    work effectively with teams, committees and other types of groups
    •    interact with customers and team members in a consistently professional and positive manner
    •    work creatively and independently
    •    lead working group s, presentations and special events
    •    meet deadlines
    •    provide excellent customer service
    •    perform web-based, telephone and in-person support, coordination and administrative duties
   
SALARY RANGE   
Salary competitive with those at similarly situated institutions, with a minimum starting salary of $60,000 annually.
