Sustainability Asset Management (SAM), the international investment company that focuses on companies that are socially responsible, has awarded Abbott “gold class” status – up from silver last year – to recognize Abbott as an industry leader in environmental, social and corporate governance issues and their global impact. SAM annually assesses about 2,000 of the world's largest companies from 58 different market sectors and determines their respective sustainability ratings.
The company is based in Zurich, Switzerland, and considers economic, environmental and social criteria in its investment strategies. SAM also manages the Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI), one of the most prestigious and respected global benchmarks of sustainability performance used by the investor community.
Abbott has been on the DJSI list for the past six years. Also, Abbott was included in the SAM yearbook, an annual report on sustainability issues and trends, informed by their research related to DJSI.
